Starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, the sequel follows the highly successful first part, “Pushpa: The Rise”, which was released in 2021. Apart from the lead actors, the film also features Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjay, Rao Ramesh, Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj in pivotal roles.
Pushpa 2 Controversy
During the premiere show of the film, a 35-year-old woman died of suffocation following a stampede at Sandhya theatre. Later on December 13, Allu Arjun was arrested and granted 14-day custody by a trial court in Telangana. His legal team then challenged the decision in the Telangana High Court, which granted interim bail to the actor. The actor was granted bail after he furnished a personal bond of ₹50,000. Noted filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma said the arrest was done to give the actor “huge publicity” and boost the second week box office collections of Pushpa 2. Speaking on X, he wrote, “Regarding everyone’s surprise about why Telangana’s Hon’ble CM @revanth_anumala did this to @alluarjun, I think it’s because he wanted to give Telangana state’s favourite son a huge publicity to boost the second week collections of #Pushpa2.”
