Pre-sales of “Devara,” starring NTR Jr. from “RRR,” bring in $3.5 million (EXCLUSIVE)

Indian star NTR Jr’s next film “Devara Part 1” after Golden Globe and Oscar winner “RRR” has grossed $3.5 million in ticket pre-sales worldwide, the makers have revealed.

The film is produced by Kosaraju Hari Krishna and Sudhakar Mikkilineni under the banners NTR Arts (“Bimbisara”) and Yuvasudha Arts respectively and is presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram.

The makers reported that 516 seats were sold out in nine minutes at the world premiere held on Thursday at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Apart from the US, where the film has grossed $2.5 million in ticket pre-sales for its September 27 release, it has already collected AUD$300,000 ($206,700) in Australia and sold 24,000 tickets for Day 1 shows in the UK. The action saga, set in the coastal regions of India, reunites NTR Jr. with his “Janatha Garage” director Koratala Siva, whose last film was “Acharya,” starring megastar Chiranjeevi and “RRR” star Ram Charan. NTR Jr. plays the fearless Devra, who treads dangerous waters of treachery and betrayal to protect his people. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor (“Uljhan”) and Saif Ali Khan (“Vikram Vedha”) in pivotal roles. In his journey from a common man to a guru to millions, NTR Jr. is not just opening doors for Indian cinema, he is rewriting its rulebook on a global stage. This level of cross-cultural appeal for an Indian film is ushering in a new era where pan-Indian stars have the power to dominate box office charts around the world.”The cast also includes Prakash Raj, Srikanth Meka, Tom Shine Chacko and Narayan. The film features music by Anirudh Ravichander (“Leo”), music by R. Cinematography is by Ratnavelu (“Sarileru Neekevvaru”), production design by Sabu Cyril (“RRR”) and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad (“RRR”).

The film will be released worldwide in two parts in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages. Prathyangira Cinemas is distributing in the US and Dreamz Entertainment in the UK. Tolly Movies is releasing in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea on 1,168 screens, making it one of the widest releases ever for an Indian film.
