Before the partition of India-Pakistan, his family lived in Peshawar, which is now in Pakistan, but after the partition in 1948, his family started living in a rented house in Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar area, where Shah Rukh’s father ran a restaurant.

He struggled a lot in Mumbai as well. When there was no money to pay rent for them, they used to sleep in the office of the director or producer. Sometimes he would even sleep at his friends’ houses.

He even had to sell his camera for money. It is said that one day when he had only 20 rupees left in his pocket, he became emotional with his struggle and told his friends – “One day this city will call me Badshah.And, with his hard work, he proved this to be true.
